Forest and Society Research Group (FSRG)

FSRG at Forestry Faculty of Universitas Hasanuddin, Indonesia, explores the relationship between human societies and environmental issues, focusing on decolonizing society, land, and forests. We conduct research, provide consultations, and offer capacity buildings to enhance academic skills in Southeast Asia. FSRG collaborates with young and emerging researchers from diverse backgrounds, promoting critical research, scholar activism, participatory action research, and an inclusive epistemic community while prioritizing academic freedom and flexible work arrangements.

Enhancing ecology politics, community based approach, and fostering scholarly activism.!

FSRG assists the Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Hasanuddin in fulfilling its “tridharma” obligations, which include teaching, research, and community service. It also contributes in achieving performance objectives, particularly in the fields of ecology politics and community-based forest management. By bringing together academics and experts in their respective fields, we foster scholar activism.
